Hannah Wilson is one of the Fuller Lake Skating Club’s many skaters in their early teens who shows great promise for the future.

Wilson, 13, is a Star 4 senior skater from Saltair. She’s currently in Grade 8 at Ladysmith Secondary School.

Wilson and the other skaters are happy to still be on the ice uninterrupted from any closures by public health officials, but are obviously having to abide by the abundant COVID-19 regulations.

They’re used to putting in lots of practice time, but not this much without going into a skating competition or a showcase event to put their talents on display. Everyone remains hopeful of a return to competitions early in the new year.

“I do miss the rush of competing and I find that having something to look forward to, like a deadline, is quite helpful to me because that way I know that I can show off all of my accomplishments,” noted Wilson.

“I believe that having no competitions will impact my performance because when you are just practicing it’s not really the same as when you have a crowd of people watching you – not to mention the judges.”
