Baseball fans will find double the pleasure with two baseball tournaments at the Chemainus Ball Park this weekend.
The second annual Chemainus & District Baseball Association U18 tournament takes place Friday through Sunday with games in Chemainus, Duncan and Ladysmith.
Teams from Chemainus, Duncan, Ladysmith, Victoria, Nanaimo and Oceanside are taking part.
Chemainus hosts Nanaimo Friday, June 2 at 6 p.m. at the Larry Irving Field at the Chemainus Ball Park and then takes on Victoria at 8:30 a.m. and Oceanside at noon Saturday, June 3.
There is one game each on Friday and Saturday in Duncan and Ladysmith.
The last three games on Sunday, June 4 are all in Chemainus. The consolation game is at 8:30 a.m., with the semifinal at 11 a.m. and the final at 1:30 p.m.
The Larry Hopwo Invitational tournament for Under 11 mosquito teams is on at the same time at three Chemainus Ball Park fields.
Chemainus plays against the Duncan Yankees at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 2; faces the Duncan Rockies at 11:30 a.m. and the Salt Spring Island Green Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3; and meets the Ladysmith Red Sox to close out the preliminary round at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 4.
The top two teams play in the final while third and fourth square off at 2 p.m. Sunday.
There are 12 teams entered in the Hopwo tournament.
A park favourite is being offered again Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4 from 7:30-11 a.m. A $5 breakfast includes pancakes, sausage and eggs.
