Worse than the Cariboo. A cloud of mosquitoes greeted me on a recent return to Chemainus from the interior. They are also attacking my neighbours as never before. (no, I did not import them from the Cariboo).
I am told by the mosquito control contractor that they are coming from Swallow Field and the salt marshes. The contractor monitors those locations so he knows that this is the source of the plague.
However, he is not authorized by the Municipality to use the modern ecologically friendly control measures that are applied in other areas. I and my neighbours have phoned the Municipality to encourage them to expand the control program. Please do the same if you have also been attacked.
