New restaurant operator for Mount Brenton Golf Course in the new year

Directors also announce agreements with superintendent, head pro

The Mount Brenton Golf Course board of directors has announced the signing of a new operator for the Canteen On The Green restaurant.

Rachael Scott took over ownership of the Brass Bell Pub in Crofton in April of 2021 and has a long-term lease for the space in the building. She also worked at the pub for many years under the previous ownership before taking over and has always enjoyed a great rapport with the clientele there.

Scott will take over the Canteen On The Green restaurant in March of 2024. She will be at the Brass Bell for another 18 months under the terms of her lease unless the building sells before that, and will be running both locations with her staff.

The focus will be on casual dining for members and the general public at affordable prices, states a release from the board of directors.

Details of the transition, menu and hours of operation will be released in the new year.

Meanwhile, the board has also signed new agreements with superintendent Ernie Whitelaw and head pro Jan Best.

“Ernie and his grounds crew have done an outstanding job keeping our course in top condition through several challenging, dry and busy summers,” praises the directors in a statement.

Best and his staff have handled a record demand for tee times for members and green-fee players during the last few years. The total number of rounds handled on the course this year will surpass 50,000.
