Mosaic Forest Management has signed agreements with five all-terrain-vehicle clubs on Vancouver Island, including the Cowichan ATV Club, for recreational access to areas of its private managed forest lands.

The agreements allow authorized, trained, and insured ATV club members weekend access to designated roads and trails on Mosaic’s forest lands.

Matt Cottier, president of the Cowichan Valley ATV Club, said the club is proud to announce the long-awaited land access agreement with Mosaic Forest Management.

“The Cowichan Valley ATV club has been a long stalwart of responsible enjoyment of the lands covered in this agreement and is excited to move into a new era of shared use of these lands,” he said.

“We would like to acknowledge all of the members past and present that have worked tirelessly to achieve this agreement as well as the Mosaic Management team who have made this agreement possible.”

The access agreements are the result of a series of successful pilot projects over the past several years aimed at expanding recreational ATV access on Mosaic’s lands.

The four other clubs that Mosaic has signed agreements with are the Alberni Valley Hillclimbers Club, Sooke ATV Club, Mid-Island ATV Club, and Comox Valley ATV Club.

“We are pleased to welcome these responsible ATV clubs to safely enjoy areas of Mosaic’s working forest,” said Jeff Zweig, president and CEO of Mosaic.

“This is another example of how we can partner to increase the recreational benefits of private land to adjacent communities, while working together to protect the forest and sensitive ecosystems.”

Through the access agreements, the partner ATV clubs ensure authorized members meet the safety and environmental standards that are requirements of the recreational ATV access opportunity with Mosaic.
