Soul Source, a 19-piece community band led by Victoria’s red-hot trombonist Nick La Riviere, delivers hard-driving R & B at Pat’s House of Jazz in the Osborne Bay Pub in Crofton on Sunday, Sept. 16.

Expect everything from Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift to Duffy, Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, the Supremes and more.

With four singers, a big horn section and a big rhythm section, this is one big sound.

La Riviere, who performs somewhere almost every day and frequently tours across Canada, the U.S. and Europe, plays regularly with the international touring band The Paperboys and performs with many other bands, including Michael Kaeshammer, Pretzel Logic and the Timebenders, yet still mentors community bands.

The show is part of a regular jazz series presented by the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society most Sundays at 2 p.m. from September to June.

This one is a crowd favourite at the pub, located at 1534 Joan Ave. in Crofton, so reservations are recommended. Admission is $15. Call 250-324-2245 or visit http://osbornebaypub.com.
