Give peace a chance.
We can all use more calm in our lives and the premise of an art exhibit hosted by Barry Strasbourg-Thompson and Gail Holland made perfect sense to those who attended.
The theme of the show on the weekend of Oct. 2-3 at the St. Joseph’s Art Studio Gallery definitely left an impression besides the works of art themselves, of course.

“There was very good interest in the idea of Time/No Time and Art Promotes Wellness,” noted Strasbourg-Thompson. “This theme resonates well with contemporary life in our pandemic.”
Part of the concept was derived from Strasbourg-Thompson’s own personal experiences. He had a tumultuous June with a hernia operation, a stroke and then the massive heat dome hit the region while he was on the road to recovery.
Strasbourg-Thompson and Holland let their art do the talking about how it accentuates healing and can slow the pace down a bit by getting into the zone so we can all enjoy our lives a little more.
Attendance was moderate, Strasbourg noted, “but those who attended bought courses or made arrangements for future commissions and purchases.”
Many new students also signed up for his Expert Fine Art course that started Oct. 9 at St. Joseph’s.
Strasbourg-Thompson hopes there will be more interest from neighbouring Ladysmith next time for both the art exhibit and classes being offered.
The notion of Time/No Time…Art Promotes Wellness will be repeated during the pair’s next show Saturday, Nov. 6 and Sunday, Nov. 7, again at St. Joseph’s Art Studio Gallery from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
