Chemainus Harvest House Food Bank is among the recipients of financial contributions made by Western Forest Products in communities where it operates in B.C. and Washington state.
The financial support assists communities and charitable organizations to provide meals and toys for those who would otherwise go without.
“The holiday season can be a difficult time for many and we are grateful to be able to play a part in spreading some joy and support to the communities where we live and work,” said Steven Hofer, president and chief executive officer of Western Forest Products. “This contribution is one of the ways Western strives to make a positive difference in our local communities.”
Chemainus Harvest House received $5,000.
“Chemainus Harvest House serves a large rural area with seven communities,” noted Emily Holmes, coordinator for the food bank. “This Christmas our numbers have doubled and we are seeing an increase in need for all our families as they struggle with the increase in costs for food and housing. We are grateful for the support from Western Forest Products that goes towards the costs of providing a little extra at Christmastime.”
