Community groups are taking advantage of the opportunity to work at the Rotary Club of Chemainus bottle drop to earn some extra funds.

“We are trying to do every third Saturday to an approved community group,” noted club member Derek Hardacker.

The First Chemainus Scouts worked the third Saturday of November and their efforts yielded $1,001 for the organization.

There was no group booked into the December slot just before Christmas. The Chemainus & District Baseball Association reserved its spot to work the third Saturday of January coming up this week, Jan. 21.

The Chemainus Secondary School grads are scheduled for the third Saturday in February and slots are also filled for March and April. Any other groups that would like to get onto the schedule should contact Hardacker at 250-701-3387.

The bottle drops are regularly held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Saturday throughout the year at the Rotary Club’s bunker across from Subway on Chemainus Road.
