The Saltair Community Society delivered the fruits of its labours to the Chemainus Harvest House Food Bank Thursday.

Jackie Rieck, Chris Bomford and Nadi Bottomley made an appearance at the food bank’s Chemainus United Church basement location to turn over contributions of cases of food and cash donations collected by the society.

Saltair contributed to the Ladysmith food bank last year, but turned its attention in the other direction.

“Because we live between the two communities, we thought this year we’ll do Chemainus,” said Rieck.

“It’s amazing how much people have donated,” added Bottomley.

Food and cash has been collected during several events at the Saltair Community Centre.

“We’ve had this going since Oct. 6,” noted Rieck.
