The Chemainus Valley Museum reopens for the spring Thursday, March 30 with some new features.

“We have changed things up again this year and are looking forward to an exciting 2023 season,” noted Trina Lambert, operations manager of the Chemainus Valley Historical Society.

What’s new for 2023 includes the exhibit ‘Along the Way – Then and Now.’ It’s a visual representation of the town’s historical timeline.

There will also be a children’s interactive display. “We are excited to be introducing an interactive display so young people will have a hands-on area to explore and enjoy,” Lambert indicated.

The Remembering the ’70s exhibit was a huge draw last year. For those who didn’t get a chance to see it, there is still time with a scaled-down version for visitors to enjoy.

The museum has also updated its gift shop.

The in-house book ‘Memories of the Chemainus Valley’ has been reprinted. Originally printed in 1978, it features stories and memories from families of the area.

Lambert pointed out additional new items will be brought in as the season progresses.

Spring hours are: Thursdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. -3 p.m.; closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The museum is located at 9799 Waterwheel Cres. at Waterwheel Park.
