It’s a proven fact mammograms save lives.
Screening can prevent cancer or catch it during its earliest stages, allowing more treatment options and a better chance of recovery. BC Cancer has province-wide screening programs for breast, cervical and colon cancer.
BC Cancer Breast Screening’s digital mobile mammography service is coming to the Best Western Plus Chemainus Inn this week, Aug. 5 and 6, as well as Aug. 16 through 18.
Appointments for women 40 and older can be made by calling 1-800-663-9203.
Screening mammograms are performed in a comfortable and private space, using state-of-the-art digital mammography equipment.
BC Cancer Breast Screening has three digital mammography coaches that travel throughout the province, visiting more than 170 communities annually.
The vehicles each have a reception area, dressing space and a mammography examination room. The coaches are also equipped with a wheelchair lift.
The mobile mammography service performs about 10 per cent of the screening mammograms done in the province.
