It was another great team effort by 49th Parallel Grocery Chemainus, Island Savings Credit Union and the community at Saturday’s Fill The Truck event to benefit the Chemainus Harvest House Food Bank.
Paul McGregor, manager of the Chemainus 49th store, noted 1,100 pounds of food and $1,838.95 in cash donations were received to give to the Harvest House.
Those are hefty totals and will help ensure the food bank remains well stocked for a while.
There was also a hot dog sale at the site in front of the 49th Parallel, with Island Savings’ Chemainus branch manager Jason Farrugia manning the barbecue.
But nothing happens without a supportive community and Chemainus came through for a worthy cause like it always does.
