A Storybook Christmas spoke volumes about the talent at Chemainus Elementary School.
The school’s annual Christmas concert on the night of Dec. 14 and afternoon of Dec. 15 featured some amazing singing and acting ability by students.
The focus was on split Grades 3/4-6. Temporary principal Ann Kissinger noted the primary grades will have their concert in the spring.
A Storybook Christmas was directed by music teachers Anna Steininger and Jaci Geiger. It had an interesting storyline.
“Basically, it’s what would happen if Santa’s elves decided to rewrite some of the most well-known fairy tales,” Steininger noted. “In this play, the Three Little Pigs are interior decorators and the Wolf is a gourmet chef.”
There were some great lines throughout the telling of the story by many of the main characters.
To highlight a couple, in one scene one of the Three Little Pigs gets a chuckle from the audience, saying, “we may be swine, but you don’t have to speak down to us.”
It all ends in festive fashion with Santa saying, “Mrs. Claus, it looks like a storybook ending for Christmas this year.”
Crofton Elementary School held its winter concert on Dec. 15 in the school gym.
