When BC Ferries started the reservation system, only 40 per cent of deck space was set aside for people willing to pay a premium price of $17 extra.
Now, up to 90 per cent is set aside for reservations, a nice cash grab for the corporation.
The major routes between the Mainland and Vancouver Island generate a nice profit.
If people had to provide a credit card to make a reservation and only get charged if they are a no-show, it would be more fair for everyone.
As it is now, greed has entered the equation.
