Week 3 of the Cowichan Women’s Flag Football League featured games on three different days. First up, on Wednesday, April 3, the Crew met the Law under the lights at Rotary Field.

True to their winning ways, the Crew overpowered the Law to a 44-9 score despite the best efforts of Law standouts Toni Williams and Megan Newton.

“It was a crazy game with lots of interceptions, touchdowns and speed in the end,” noted the CWFL’s Chris Mann.

Led by Taylor Hendricks and Nakisa Levale, the Crew didn’t have much time to revel in their success as they were at it again on Sunday, April 7 when they bested Jen Matheson, Jamie Russell and the Ravens 38-19.

This week the teams that played twice either won twice, like the Crew, or lost twice, like the Law.

Already beaten by the Crew earlier in the week, the Law played Sunday as well, suffering the same fate as Wednesday. This time it was at the hands of the Storm, who took a tightly contested game by a 30-26 score.

Like the Crew, it was the Storm’s second win in a row as they’d also beaten the Ruckers on Friday night under the lights, that game by a 14-8 score. Melissa Cameron and Caitlin Erickson were standouts for the Storm.

“Both teams featured new players, so it was understandable that things would go sideways for a while,” Mann said.

Finally, Erica Hamilton and Elissa Alarie and the Victoria Cougars played their second game in the league and defeated Dani Robb, Veronica Smith and the Ruckers 31-6 on Sunday morning.
