Choirs spread Christmas cheer among dinner crowd

Entertainment caps a superb evening at the 55+ Activity Centre

The Chemainus 55+ Activity Centre knows how to get people in the Christmas spirit.

The Centre’s annual Christmas dinner and entertainment last Friday night drew a jam-packed crowd.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the turkey buffet dinner, catered by Mike Morgan and his family plus some additional elves to handle the large crowd.

The CentreBelles ladies’ choir, under the direction of Patricia Ordynec, performed some lesser-known holiday songs as well as traditional favourites like Silent Night that invited audience participation.

The Centremen Songsters men’s choir took over for the final part of the program, lending their voices to Deck The Halls, White Christmas, The Christmas Song, Silver Bells, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock and We Wish You A Merry Christmas.

Hugh Morrison still conducts the group but is unable to be among large crowds due to health reasons so he was with them in spirit from his home.
