A patient shuttle to and from our great Cowichan District Hospital is urgently needed now.
Local taxi companies are not reliable since they are either not on duty when needed, fully booked, or short of drivers.
This leaves patients, many of whom are seniors, basically relying on friends and family to visit CDH or to return home at all hours of the day and night.
We submit our busy hospital needs a shuttle on-call to solve this chronic patient-transportation problem that’s simply worsening as our valley grows, and we anticipate our new hospital opening in 2027.
Such a shuttle would also serve our repurposed, aging CDH once our new medical facility opens.
Perhaps a CDH staff member can be directed to fulfil our dire shuttle need.
Please discuss this patient-transportation emergency then act to solve it. Patients are suffering and frustrated.
