What is going on?

Municipal government management wages are out of control.

In 2022, the Municipality of North Cowichan CAO, Ted Swabey, was paid a yearly salary of $226,000. Population of North Cowichan is 31,900.

In 2021, Brian Carruthers, former CAO of the Cowichan Valley Regional District, was paid a yearly salary of $232,301 per year. Population of 89,013.

Presently, B.C. premier David Eby is paid a yearly salary of $218,586 per year.

I am writing a letter to Anna Kang, B.C. Minister of Municipal Affairs, proposing that all municipal governments in B.C. will no longer have the right to approve municipal management wages and that the B.C. Ministry of Municipal Affairs will set wage rates for all municipal management employees in B.C. This would save taxpayer dollars.

CAO wages for Comox Valley Regional District in 2022 was $205,543. Population of 66,527.

CAO wages for City of Courtenay in 2022 was $203,556. Population of 25,599.

CAO wages for City of Campbell River in 2022 was $215,617. Population of 35,519.

CAO wages for City of Port Alberni in 2022 was $188,780. Population of 17,743.

CAO wages for City of Sidney in 2022 was $191,578. Population of 11,612.

Unbelievable!
