The Mount Brenton Golf Course brought back the McDonald’s mixed two-ball Sept. 10 after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

A group of new entrants was included in the 40 players who took part.

The rookies in the field were: Randy Pauls, Ron Rhode, Kevin and Sam Godkin, Cal Allenby, Karen and Don Manning, Laverne and Warren Boschee, Julie Strautman, Bev Bruce, Marianne Sanders, Grace Predy, Lorne Dubinsky, and Charlie Gallagher. Member guests Scott Barrett and Trish McConnell also entered.

Julie Stevens and the Canteen on the Green staff started the day on the right foot with complimentary coffee and muffins.

Wendy Jordan and Jim Carlson were the overall low net winners with a net 63. Laverne and Warren Boschee were runners-up, just one behind with a net 64.

The low gross winners were Dar Michell and Randy Pauls with a 77. Pauls was sporting such a hot putter he could have made shots from anywhere.

Mike Roy and Kathy Matilpi placed second with an 80.

Closest to the pin winners were: No. 3 – Mike Roy; No. 6, second shot closest to the pin – Kathy Matilpi and Mike Roy; No. 7 men – Charlie Gallagher; No. 16 ladies – Lynda Riordan; and No. 17 second shot closest to the pin – Lynda Riordan and James Crickett.
