Parksville event puts skaters to the test

Fuller Lake Skating Club members made the most of the opportunity to skate in a competition for the second time in a few weeks.

A Vancouver Island Super Series event in Parksville followed the previous Vancouver Island FunSkate at Victoria as competitions resumed after the long layoff due to COVID. Fuller Lake skaters also had their spring skating concert between the two events.

Brooklyn Puska was among those with a solid showing in Parksville. She came second out of 10 skaters in Group 2 of the Star 7 women’s free skate and was also eighth out of 19 in Star 6.

Lucy Street nailed down fourth place out of eight in Star 8 women’s free skate and finished ninth in the Star 9 women’s division.

Sophie Dawe was her usual busy self in three categories, placing eighth out of 10 for Group 2 of Star 7 women plus seventh in Star 8 women and 12th for her Gold Artistic performance.

Pamela Ellis received second place for Star 10 women.

Leah Brown captured seventh spot out of 13 skaters in Star 5 girls 13 and older.

Isabel Anderson secured ninth position for both Star 5 girls 13 and older and Group 2 of the Star 7 women’s competition.

Daisy McNamara attained fourth place out of eight in Group 1 of Star 4 girls under 13.

Liahni Ellis-Donald and Heidi Simpson were both second in Group 8 of their respective Star 2 and Star 3 skates. Ella Donovan came first in Group 3 of Star 1.
