Knights not lacing up the skates for 2018-19 season

The South Island Knights are no longer operating after two seasons.

The Senior Men’s AA hockey team based out of Fuller Lake Arena included players primarily from Victoria to Nanaimo, with a few from the Lower Mainland as well.

A lack of someone to run the team after organizer Jon Hollett of Chemainus stepped away is the main reason for the decision to fold the team. Hollett and his wife Sarah did the bulk of the work behind the scenes and didn’t get enough help to keep it going.

The highly-entertaining brand of hockey also failed to draw much of a crowd for its home games.

The North Island Capitals team is not continuing, either, which would have added considerably to the travel schedule if the Knights continued playing.
