Several Fuller Lake Skating Club members started the season in fine fashion.

Attending a two-day development seminar in Parksville was an amazing opportunity for skaters at the Star 1 level and above.

Having the chance to meet Patrick Chan and his girlfriend Elizabeth Putnam, a famous skater in her own right, was a memorable experience for the group.

The Sept. 22-23 seminar was run by grassroots development specialist, coach Jean Leshures, with special appearances by three-time World Champion and Olympic gold medalist Chan.

The seminar is normally open for skaters in Star 3 and above, but it was opened up to Star 1 and 2 this year.

The skaters at the development seminar in previous years had a chance to be on the ice with other world famous Canadian skaters like Kurt Browning and Elvis Stojko.

Needless to day, everyone had an amazing time.

Meanwhile, the Fuller Lake club has a new head coach, Dominic Turgeon. He replaces Shannon McKinlay, who is now coaching with the Duncan club.
