Chemainus Cougars lost 55-28 at Nanaimo Christian School in their return to senior boys basketball action after the holiday break.

Matt Simpson and Jack Miller were the high point-scorers for the Cougars with eight points apiece. Will Ngenda added six.

Simpson chipped in with five steals and was a sparkplug for the team throughout the game.

The Cougars turned in a decent showing in the defensive end with 23 rebounds. Kyle Brown was the leader in the defensive rebound department with seven.

At the other end, things didn’t go so well with offensive rebounding. The Cougars ended up with only four, including two of them from Ngenda.

The team’s shooting percentage was also low. Only about 20 per cent of the shots attempted were successful.
