Trail of last winter’s lost mittens

Someone went to a lot of trouble for this pleasing project

The trail of last winter’s lost mittens in Askew Creek Park. Someone has gone to a lot of work knitting the scarf which wraps around each tree and putting all of them together. It does this letter writer’s heart good to see such benevolence and creativity. (Photo submitted)

During these troubled times something which brings us joy is much appreciated.

Recently, in Chemainus, there have appeared mittens, attached to a scarf, literally hugging a tree. At two locations found so far – in Askew Creek Park and on Esplanade Street.

Now, these claim to be part of a ‘Trail of Last Winter’s Lost Mittens’, so there may be more. The care taken and the workmanship of each set are impeccable, and the person who knit these should be proud.

Maybe they wish anonymity, but I, for one, want to thank them for bringing a smile to my face each time I walk by.

Peter Ordynec,

Chemainus
