Re: Joe Sawchuk (“Facing the Facts,” Courier, May 10)

If you want to “start facing the facts about the Kinder Morgan pipeline,” let’s do that by facing the facts regarding the environmental impact of burning fossil fuels. Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion is all about big financial benefits – but what is the real cost?

FACT: climate scientists from around the world agree that the burning of fossil fuels is a bad thing. Come on – we get it! The facts are out there. Look it up! For starters, try Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (195 countries belong to this organization).

Oh, and by the way, scientists are supposed to study things from an objective point of view unless they are paid to think otherwise.

“One of the most serious consequences of our actions is global warming brought about by rising levels of CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels.” – Physicist Stephen Hawking, considered one of the greatest scientists and geniuses of our time.

Looks like we are doing a good job of burning out our planet, ooops, just heard that there is no Planet B. We are going to have to figure this out – we might even have to change with the times. Rumour has it there is big money in green technology.

This could be a good thing to focus on.
