No benefit to hiring an environmental manager in North Cowichan

Ample guidelines already in place for environmental stewardship

It has been proposed that the Municipality of North Cowichan hire an Environmental Manager. This expense would include the usual bounteous municipal salary and benefit package. The cost is unconscionable. We are already paying taxes rising at an alarming rate.

What would be the real benefit? We are presently guided by an ample set of guidelines for environmental stewardship, issued by government at various levels. More extreme measures are proposed by environmental activists. Would the manager issue additional guidelines, repeat old advice, offer new carrots and dictate enforcement penalties?

Please, by email or other means, urge North Cowichan council not to support the hiring of an Environmental Manager.
