Sadly, some residents feel that total preservation of the North Cowichan municipal forests is the best route to go.
As a local resident, I feel that we can have the best of both worlds. We can harvest timber that will create jobs and spinoff jobs along with extra revenue for the municipality. At the same time, we will still have the trails to use for whatever outdoor activity that one chooses. I would call this a win-win situation for everyone.
I urge everyone to complete the North Cowichan survey to restart the municipal logging program. The survey has been extended to the end of January.
