In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Violet Bessie Chang on October 9, 2024. Violet was born in Hammond on March 15, 1939, and lived a life of compassion, strength, and a vibrant spirit. Her legacy is a rich tapestry of love and lasting memories, with each thread a tribute to the lives she impacted.
Violet's dedication to community service was evident in her many years of involvement with the Chemainus Hospital Auxiliary, where she held roles such as treasurer and president. Her remarkable spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, inspiring those around her.
Violet enjoyed gathering with her family around the mahjong table, where laughter and friendly competition created cherished memories. Her love for family truly shone in these simple yet joyful moments, a reminder of the joy she found in everyone being together.
Her love for travel took her worldwide, and her family vacations to Hawaii held a special place in her heart. An accomplished golfer, she approached the game with grace and a spirited competitiveness. Whether on the course or at a family gathering, she made everything around her brighter and more beautiful.
A talented chef, Violet's kitchen was a warm haven of wisdom and generational culinary delights. She generously passed down her skills and recipes, teaching her family to cook with heart and continue traditions. She lives on in every dish we prepare, each a tribute to her love.
Violet is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Chang; her sons, Brian and Jason Chang; and her granddaughter, Ashley Chang.
Although she did not wish for a formal service, her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched as we cherish the love and laughter she brought into our lives.
Let us continue to honour Violet's legacy by carrying forward her kindness. In doing so, we celebrate her beautiful influence on this world and keep her spirit alive.
Rest in peace, beloved Poa-Poa.
