Sep 21, 1925 - Nov 30, 2017
With great sadness we announce the passing of Albert Gagnon on Thursday, November 30 after suffering injuries sustained from a car accident and a stroke, which followed.

He was surrounded by his devoted, compassionate family when he passed.

He was predeceased by his wife Velma (2000).

He is survived by his loving family, daughter Annette (Les) Dawes, grandson Andrew, granddaughter Sarah, daughter Adele (Dennis) Espey, granddaughter Tess, grandson Kalen, son Michael (Lesley) grandson Seth, and his loyal companion, Pat Bell.

Albert was born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan on September 21st, 1925.  He came out to the west coast in 1951 and married Velma in Chemainus in 1955.  Albert had great pride for his children and grandchildren who brought him immense happiness.

Al and his brother Ray worked together for many years in their company Gagnon Brothers Construction.  Side by side they built many homes and became masters of fine finishing detail in the area of Chemainus, Ladysmith and beyond.

Albert was deeply grateful for the affection of his loyal circle of friends with whom he shared many positive experiences and became an important part of his life in later years.  The Ladysmith Legion and the Ladysmith Senior's Center were favourite spots for Albert to meet with friends and enjoy a sense of community on a regular basis.

Support, friendship and love from Pat Bell, her children and their families, as well as friends Alphonse and Jean Gallant are particularly acknowledged.

The family welcomes friends to a celebration of Albert's life to be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ladysmith on January 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make donations is welcome to contribute to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

The family wishes to extend our utmost appreciation and recognition of the special care provided by nursing staff at the Cowichan District Hospital.
