Grace Shelling

February 6, 2018

Nov 21, 1920 - Feb 6, 2018
It is with overwhelming pride and aching hearts that we remember the life of our very own compassionate, caring, witty, and wonderful " Amazing Grace".

True to her nickname, Mom excelled at "life", including parenting (raising 5 children, Lou, Michael, Ann, Judy, and John, with her adored and adoring husband, Lou), grandparenting, Godparenting, globetrotting, and sharing her deep abiding faith with others, particularly her fellow parishioners at St. Joseph's Parish  in Chemainus, and her beloved CWL sisters.

Mom loved a challenge, and savoured her time as Vancouver Island President of the CWL, as well as participating in many theological Catholic and interfaith discussion groups, voluntarily, and by invitation. Feisty and fearless, she really enjoyed "rocking the boat" at times!

Loving, laughing, and mentoring others came as naturally as breathing to Mom. Amazing Grace may have "left the building", but she will always remain in the hearts of those of us who were blessed to know, love, and be loved by her.

We are eternally grateful to Dr. Murray Archdekin for his consistently "above and beyond the call of duty" exemplary care provided to both Mom and Dad, and to the extraordinary staff of the Chemainus Health Care Centre, who so selflessly, compassionately, and lovingly tended to Mom on a daily basis. We will never be able to thank you enough!

Please join us  in celebrating Mom's life at noon on Friday, February 16th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 9735 Elm Street, Chemainus, BC. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Joseph's School, the Chemainus Health Care Centre, or a charity of your choice.
