April 3, 1936 - January 15, 2019
It is with great sadness that we let go of a most gentle-hearted, kind and loving man on January 15, 2019 with his daughters, April and June by his side at Chemainus Health Care Centre.

Predeceased by his first spouse, Rose and by his second spouse Louise, his Mother, Hedvig and his Father, Merton and his siblings; Wes, Doris, Don, Max and Bob.

Left to grieve are his daughter April (Rick) Shay, his granddaughter Jennifer and grandson Jesse. Daughter June (Kennely) Johnston, granddaughters Tammy (Travis), Treena and great-grandson Devan. Louise's children Diane Davidson, George (Rosemary) Bowater and their families. Sisters Vera May and Ruth Atkinson and many nieces and nephews. Many friends and people whose lives Gerry has touched, he will be dearly missed.

Gerry was the second youngest of 8 children and was born in Rock Glen, Saskatchewan and was raised in Chemainus. He started working in 1954 at MacMillan Bloedel, Chemainus and retired in 2000.

Gerry fought the cancer fight with everything he had, but the battle got too big. We want to thank the organizations and people that make the palliative room at Chemainus Health Care Center possible- we have many beautiful moments to cherish from our time there. We also want to give deep gratitude to the many health care workers that gave Gerry such gentle care and heartfelt compassion while traveling this journey. From the home care crew, to all the doctors and staff at Chemainus Health Care Centre. We truly felt so very blessed.

So many of you touched Gerry's life as he touched yours, it will continue as a gentle breeze, that we will all feel every day. We are forever grateful.

Celebration of Life at 1 pm at the Chemainus Legion on February 2nd, 2019 - Refreshments and reception to follow.

In honor of Gerry's love of baseball and his wish that "kids can just play ball" without financial burdens, Gerry has started a benevolent fund to help provide personal baseball equipment for local youth. Donations can be made to this fund at Coast Capital Savings, Duncan, BC, through the Society of Cuban Baseball Journey. Please direct the funds to 'Gerry Brooks Benevolent Fund' account on the memo line.

Until we meet again....
