Eleanor Methot (nee Bissberg) passed away peacefully surrounded by her five children: Tim (Trudy), Tom (Rita), Roxanne (Kevin), Suzanne (Jon), and Valerie (Jeremy). She was predeceased by her parents, Helge and Dagny, and husband Ken. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Matthew, Alex (Michelle), Adam (Katelyn), Victoria (Oleg), Lance (Cydney), Ethan, and great granddaughter Ava.
Eleanor was radiant. She brightened up a room with her smile and sunny outlook. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage, being close with her family and community. She loved educating children and graduated from teachers' college in North Bay, then taught at elementary schools in Smoky Falls, Slate River Valley, and Kingston. When Eleanor married Ken and started a family, she devoted herself as a loving wife and mother. She was a woman of faith and lived her life accordingly. Upon Ken's retirement, they fulfilled their dream and moved to Vancouver Island. They also traveled the world and visited family and friends in Norway, Spain, Australia, and across Canada.
Eleanor volunteered with many charities in Thunder Bay, as well as the Theatre and Senior Drop-in Centre in Chemainus. Eleanor was also a member of Probus, White Rock Senior Centre, Beulah Gardens and later resided in Cedar Springs Residence. Throughout her life, Eleanor enjoyed art galleries, museums, concerts, symphonies, and theatre productions. Her hobbies included piano playing, family games, knitting, letter writing, bridge with good friends, dancing, cross-country skiing, and walking. In her eighties, she thrived on the adventure of taking three buses and the skytrain from White Rock to East Vancouver to visit family. In her final years, Eleanor enjoyed her daily walks to Garibaldi Park, to watch the children play.
Eleanor will be missed tremendously.
May love and peace be with you always Mom (Mor Mor and Grandma). Fly free and be the radiant light you are.
