Residents in the Cowichan Valley voted for a new school district board on Oct. 15.

There were a whopping 18 candidates who put their names forward for the seven-person body.

Winners include both incumbents and newcomers.

Incumbent Joe Thorne topped the polls, followed by Cindy Lise, Elizabeth Croft, Randy Doman, Jennifer Strachan, Cathy Schmidt and Eduardo Sousa.

Croft and Doman are also incumbents. Schmidt is also a former school board trustee, though did not sit on the board during the last term.
