The Rotary Club of Chemainus presented a cheque for $1,370.86 to the Chemainus Health Care Foundation, September's community group benefiting from Rotary's recycling collection efforts.
The club holds a bottle drop off in Chemainus every Saturday to raise funds for Rotary club projects. On the third Saturday of each month, Rotary partners with other community organizations to help run the bottle drop and a portion of funds raised then goes to the partnering community group.
The Chemainus Health Care Foundation focuses on raising funds to support health care facilities, programs and services in Chemainus and surrounding areas.
“We’re really grateful to have an urgent care facility here in Chemainus and to work with local service clubs like Rotary to support such an important health care service," said Chemainus Health Care Foundation Vice President Doc Morrell.
The bottle drop is located at the Chemainus Rotary Club’s bunker across from Subway on Chemainus Road and accepts refundable containers on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Those dropping off need only to pull into the clearly marked donation area and volunteers will even help unload if needed.
Next month's bottle drive will support Food First Chemainus, a group building community through the producing and sharing of small-scale organic garden produce using public herb gardens, yard share programs, fruit save programs and community gardens.
