The Showroom’s ‘Dress Rehearsal Tuesday’, also known as their weekly open-mic night, gets underway at 7:30 p.m. There will be two more open-mic nights scheduled for the same time on Dec. 10 and the 24.

On Dec. 5, the talent at the Showroom is staggering with a solo performance of singer/songwriter Leeroy Stagger who is originally from the Cowichan Valley. Experience Stagger as he stops on at the Showroom as a part of his 3 a.m. Revelations Tour. Tickets are $30.

Don't believe for a minute that you need liquid courage to sing your heart out. The Duncan Showroom presents Sober Karaoke on Dec. 6. This all ages event will get underway at 7 p.m., with a $5 cover.

On Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. lend your ears to the students of Long and McQuade who have been working hard all year to hone their skills on their desired instrument. Standing room only with admission by donation.
Be sure to swing back to the Showroom for 7:30 and dig in for an evening with Agricultural Appropriation and Friends. This group of young guys under the leadership of James Meyer return to the stage where they first got their start for an evening of new material, and some of their personal faves. A donation of $20 is suggested.

On Dec. 8, treat yourself to a worldly night of music as James Hamilton brings the wonderment of the sitar to the Showroom stage at 3 p.m. for an hour-long concert. A donation of $20 is requested.

Don't be scared to spend Friday the 13th at the Showroom as Victoria's own Hounds of Cuchulain give the present of a tribute to Shane MacGowan, and The Pogues.
The Hounds of Cuchulain bring with them a sack of songs made famous by the legendary '80s London Irish Celtic rock band. The band's lineup will feature a host of traditional Celtic instruments to recreate the sound of The Pogues including instruments such as the accordion, fiddles, whistle, Irish tenor banjo, mandolin, harp — and of course, drums and bass. Give yourself the gift of some Celtic rock and cheer this holiday season with the 'Fairytale of New York Tribute to Shane MacGowan and The Pogues' — this event will have limited seating and tickets are $25.

On Dec. 14 at 2 p.m., fly down to the Showroom to hear students from Blackbird School of Music soar as they perform a new song and strut their stuff. The performance which will be standing room only and will also be broadcast to both Facebook, and YouTube and admission is by donation.
Swing back to the Showroom for 7:30 p.m. and get the jump on a 'blues' Christmas with the James Vickers Band from Nanaimo as they deliver an evening of good vibes. Tickets are $20.

On Dec. 15, get your butt to the Showroom for the annual 'Toilet Paper Benefit' as various valley performers who understand the importance of a having good stash of TP going into the new year flush it all out on stage. Twenty-five-minute sets will start at 3 p.m. and run right through until 10 p.m. Attendees are asked to donate toilet paper or give substantial financial donations for those who need it most this time of year. All proceeds and donations will go to the Cowichan Valley Basket Society.

On Dec 20, treat yourselves to an electric evening with Mongst of Nanaimo, Green Mist of Nanoose Bay, Skruntskrunt from Edmonton, and Pet Retina of Victoria as they hit the Showroom stage for an experimental evening of electronic and electroacoustic music and noise show. Tickets are $20.

On Dec. 21, celebrate the winter solstice with a performance by Transitional Alien, a blues hard rock trio based out of Victoria. A donation of $20 is suggested.

On Dec. 22, get lost in the art of storytelling at 2 p.m. as Island Storyteller presents 'Can You Hear Them - Whispers in the Dark?' There will be two sets of stories lasting 45 minutes with a short break in between. A donation of $15 to $20 is suggested.

From Dec. 26 to Dec. 30 the Showroom is winding down the season with Spinnin' the House Vinyl. So keep your schedule open, make your move, and request your favourite grooves as the Showroom drops the needle and winds down the year in style. Admission is by donation.
