The re-roofing of Fuller Lake Arena will be moving ahead during the slower season at the arena.
North Cowichan council has given pre-budget approval for the Fuller Lake Re-Roofing Capital Project. The goal will be to complete the project during 2021 to limit the disruption to programming and services.
Total cost of the project is pegged at $870,000. Council agreed to fund the project with $150,000 from general revenues and $720,000 from the Infrastructure Replacement Reserve Fund.
An application for grant funding for the project was denied. Available funds for grants had already been exhausted.
The current arena roof was installed in 1991 and has exceeded its lifespan.
