North Cowichan has been working to resume services during the COVID-19 crisis in a safe and cautious way that complies with orders from senior levels of government and the provincial health officer.

The Municipal Hall and other Municipal facilities remain closed to the public, but business can still be conducted.

As of last Thursday, North Cowichan is accepting and processing completed applications for building permits, subdivisions and land development.

Applications for building permits can be submitted by mail, left in the drop-box at the lower entrance to the Municipal Hall between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on regular business days or submitted electronically.

Application processing times are taking longer during the pandemic due to increased safe work practices to protect staff and the public.

Contact is requested to confirm application requirements and submission procedures before submitting an application.

“While some things may take longer or look different, we are trying to operate as close to business as usual during this challenging time,” noted Mayor Al Siebring.
