Cowichan-Malahat-Langford MP Alistair MacGregor will be hosting federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and joined by B.C. premier John Horgan in Duncan on Saturday, August 15.

They will start the day visiting the Duncan Farmers Market from 10:30-11:30 a.m. within Duncan City Square, Craig Street and Ingram Street to appreciate locally grown and produced foods and artisan products and to meet with vendors and constituents.

MacGregor and Singh will then be joined by local elected representatives and meet with small business owners who have been negatively affected by the opioid crisis. Together, the elected leaders will tour Whistler Street and the surrounding area to view firsthand the issues facing business owners in dealing with the opioid epidemic. From 1-1:45 p.m., they’ll be at Experience Cycling, 482 Trans-Canada Highway in Duncan.

They will then pay a visit to Warmland House where the two will tour the facilities and meet with mental health and addictions workers who are on the front lines of the opioid crisis.

“Over the course of several years and visits, Jagmeet has grown to love our community,” noted MacGregor. “He knows how hard our riding has been hit by the opioid crisis, and it is my hope that through ground-level community engagement we can exchange ideas and concerns with constituents and highlight some of the priorities that Canada’s New Democrats are focusing on for the post-COVID era.”
