MP Alistair MacGregor of Cowichan-Malahat-Langford is hosting a virtual public town hall to highlight his Private Member’s Bill C-290 and the crucial role that soil plays in supporting agricultural productivity and in meeting global challenges, including food security and combating climate change.
The virtual town hall will be held Thursday, July 15 through Zoom software and participants can find instructions on how to participate through MP MacGregor’s website. It will also be streamed live on MP MacGregor’s Facebook page from 5:30-7 p.m. MacGregor is encouraging all interested constituents to attend and participate.
“Healthy soils are the foundation of sustainable food production, enhanced biodiversity and cleaner air and water for present and future generations,” he said. “Canadians from coast-to coast-to-coast depend on our ability to produce good food to keep themselves, their families and the environment healthy. I’m excited to meet with my constituents to hear what they have to say on this issue and ensure their voices are heard in Ottawa.”
An expert panel from across the country will be participating in the town hall, including Gabrielle Bastien, founder and co-director of Regeneration Canada based in Montreal; Brett Israel from 3Gen Organics Family Farm in Wallenstein, Ontario who is involved with Farmers for Climate Solutions; and Aaron Grant from Morgan Creek Farm in Nanaimo, who practices regenerative agriculture techniques right here on Vancouver Island.
During the town hall, constituents are encouraged share feedback and ask questions for the town hall panelists.
