Green Aura cannabis dispensary in Chemainus Village Square officially closed at the end of business Wednesday.

Trevor Pewarchuk refused comment and ordered the Chemainus Valley Courier to leave his shop, but offered the following explanation on the Chemainus Shoutouts Facebook page:

“Today marks a huge moment for Green Aura and our entire community. Today marks the end of one era and perhaps the beginning of a new one. After approximately 580 days of operation, nearly 2,600 members, countless newspaper articles, one raid by the RCMP, multiple court dates, numerous emails and letters of support, and one huge injunction, we will be complying with the wishes of the Council of the District of North Cowichan and closing our doors in Chemainus at the end of our store hours today, July 18, 2018.

“Following this crazy and windy path through cannabis legalization has been hard, long, and not always rewarding. However, to see so many of our members overcome their pain, insomnia, cancer, anxiety, and fear has been some of the most rewarding experiences of our lives. We will forever carry with us the stories and legacy that have become part of the Green Aura brand.

“Green Aura was created because we wanted to provide a safe place where legal adults were able to make healthy choices for their health and try to rid themselves of ailments with the assistance of an incredible natural medicine, and while this may be the closing of a chapter for us, our vision for a future store of holistic, naturally based cannabis choices will again be realized.”
