The Cowichan Valley School District has declared Tuesday, Feb. 28 a snow day.

“Due to the poor weather and deteriorating road conditions, schools are closed today,” reads a post on the district’s Facebook page. “This includes before and after school care at our sites. Enjoy the snow day!”

The Chemainus Crofton Community Schools Association also announced all programs are closed.

Around the community, there will also be numerous disruptions from the weather Monday night.

The Chemainus Health Care Auxiliary announced the Thrift Shop is closed today.

The weather is improving rapidly with mainly sunny conditions the rest of the day. Schools are expected to be back in session Wednesday, as well as other community programs, services and shops.
