The Cowichan Valley School District’s Board of Education will be consulting with the Chemainus and Crofton communities to develop a long-range facilities plan for the north zone of the school district.
The plan will help formulate the course of action to be taken for the next few years, as the population in the communities continues to grow. The board is seeking feedback from parents, caregivers, and others involved in the school community at three events scheduled at Chemainus Secondary School in January and February.
“It is our sincere hope that the communities of Chemainus and Crofton will help us co-create the long-range facilities plan that will see us through the substantial projected growth in these two areas,” said Candace Spilsbury, the Board of Education chair. “We know that there are already space challenges in the schools in these communities and we want to prepare our schools, staff, learners and wider communities for the continued growth that is anticipated.”
This round of conversations is aimed at the district’s north end, with similar events to be held in other areas of the district throughout 2019.
The sessions are: Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room at Chemainus Secondary School, 9947 Daniel St., Chemainus.
