The music scene in Chemainus slowly came back to life in 2021 with performances returning to the Waterwheel Park bandshell after the lifting of COVID restrictions and its full steam ahead again.
The Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society is proceeding with a full schedule of events in 2022, pending any changes to Provincial Health Orders.
It will all start in late June and run through the summer.
“We can confirm that June 21 there will be an Indigenous Day celebration,” noted CVCAS president Bev Knight as a kick-off to the season.
The Copper Canyon Band gets things fired up for Canada Day on July 1 with a performance from 7-8:30 p.m. That’s directly followed by the two-day Chemainus Valley Blues Fest July 2 and 3 from 2-8 p.m. each day.
Other confirmed appearances on the agenda include: A bluegrass festival July 16; Heartwood July 23; busking performers July 30; Daniel Cook & The Radiators Aug. 6; Accordion Day Aug. 13; Soul Shakers Aug. 23 and a variety show Sept. 3.
There’s music in the park every Tuesday night, dates to be announced, from 7-8:30 p.m.
The popular Naden Band has just been booked for Tuesday, July 12 so now the CVCAS can go ahead and fill out the rest of its Tuesday night schedule.
