Chemainus Classical Concerts is bringing the music to the people.
In late May, St. Michael’s Church opened its doors for the recording of a live performance of its May 2021 concert.
”A technical team from the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre captured the concert of art song, chansons, cabaret and show tunes,” noted Rykie Avenant, artistic co-director of Chemainus Classical Concerts.
It was a joint project between the St. Michael’s Presents..Society and the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society, with support from the BC Arts Council.
“We are so pleased to make this recording available to you,” added Avenant. “Soprano Anne Grimm and pianist Bruce Vogt will charm and impress you with their seasoned musicianship, versatility and command of their respective instruments. They switch effortlessly between genres and draw the listener into every story and emotion.
“This has been a very hard, lean year for performing artists everywhere. Many of our patrons are aware of these hardships and have enquired about making donations to support our performers. Although they received a generous fee from the CVCAS, we would welcome any donations to show our appreciation for their commitment.”
Donations can be made via eTransfer to chemainusclassicaltickets@gmail.com and tax receipts will be issued.
Avenant expressed her gratitude for the support given to Chemainus Classical Concerts and live music.
The 2021-2022 season is booked and “let’s hope that we will be able to enjoy some of it in person,” she said.
