The West Coast Chamber Players will provide an early Christmas present for fans of classical music on Sunday, Dec. 4.

The Chemainus Classical Concerts performance at 2 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church features an afternoon of music with Lauren Stubbs (bassoon), Jim Stubbs (trumpet), Karen Hough (horn), Anne McDougall (violin) and Bruce Vogt (piano).

“Showcasing their various instruments, we will hear different trios, a duet composed especially for Lauren and Jim, as well as the full ensemble in an arrangement dedicated to the group,” noted Rykie Avenant, artistic co-director for Chemainus Classical Concerts.

“The West Coast Chamber Players have all enjoyed successful international careers, and continue to be ‘instrumental’ in bringing live music to audiences on the west coast, while nurturing the next generation of young musicians. We are delighted that they are returning to play for us.”

The illustrious careers of the world class performers include working with the Metropolitan Opera, National Ballet of Canada and Victoria Symphony. The diversity of the ensemble is remarkable.

They will perform works by JS Bach, Lennox Berkeley, Bizet and Mathieu Lussier in their Chemainus return concert.

Reserved tickets are available for $20 by calling Eleanor Montour at 250-748-8383. Tickets are $25 at the door for adults or $10 for under 18.
