A jam-packed month of live music at the Osborne Bay Pub in Crofton is only just beginning.

Supernatural – A Tribute To The Music Of Santana and Angela Verbrugge kicked things off in fine style with a double header weekend on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Next up is Row of Crowz on Saturday, May 13 at 8 p.m. The band has been turning up everywhere from bars to benefit dances, a main stage appearance at Sunfest and even as a feature on CBC’s hit TV show ‘Still Standing’, accentuating its 20 years of entertaining audiences.

The Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society’s Sunday Jazz continues May 14 at 2 p.m. with Graham Villette. The Nanaimo-based drummer is joined in a quartet with other well-known Vancouver Island players Nick Peck (keys), Kosma Busheikin (guitar) and Ken Lister (upright bass).

Tickets are $15 at the door.

A very special night awaits on Saturday, May 20 at 8 p.m. with Brass Camel, an independent Vancouver-based group which released its debut album mixed by multiple Juno winner Ben Kaplan in September of 2022. In 2021, Big Sugar’s Gordie Johnson named Brass Camel his favourite Canadian band.

Monik Nordine plays the Sunday Jazz program on May 21 at 2 p.m., with tickets $15 at the door.

The Monik Nordine Trio consists of Nick Peck on Hammond organ and Miles Fuller on drums. Nordine is a saxophonist and vocalist with many credentials to her credit.

The Greg Bush Sextet rounds out the Sunday Jazz program for the month on May 28 at 2 p.m.

Trumpeter, arranger and composer Bush heads up a group of some of the finest musicians on the island for an afternoon of hard swinging jazz.

Originally from Montreal, Bush is currently the professor of music at Vancouver Island University where he conducts the VIU Wind Ensemble, heads the trumpet studio, teaches Jazz Improvisation, Jazz Composition, Instrumental Conducting and Pedagogy.
