Vancouver-based contemporary artist Jeanette Jarville, whose works include Spirit Of The Woods valued at $10,000, is the featured artist during the production of Glorious! at the Chemainus Theatre.

Selections from the amazing artist’s Figurative and Landscape collections are currently on display in the Gallery Gift Shop and the halls of the theatre until Oct. 6.

Jarville is a professional award-winning international artist, who now lives and works at her studio in Crescent Beach, B.C. She began doing classical oil painting at the age of 11 and was accepted into the renowned Emily Carr University of Art & Design in 1992.

Jarville further studied sculpting and painting at the Weissensee Art Academy in Berlin, Germany. While living in Germany, she traveled extensively throughout Europe and was inspired by the abundance of masters works and historic architecture.

Jarville’s art can be found in private and corporate collections around the world. Her work has been featured on television, in movies and in many news articles and magazines.

The Chemainus Theatre has always been driven to champion the arts in ways that explore and nourish the human spirit.

Gallery Manager Lorna Rivard selects artisans to feature alongside the current show for every program during the season lineup. In featuring Jarville, “it was originally Jeanette’s figurative pieces that attracted me,” noted Rivard.

“The bold use of colour combined with romantic shapes is appealing—reminiscent of Modigliani, with a hint of Picasso. After looking further at her other work, from the Figurative, Landscapes and Mixed Media Abstracts, I am convinced she is an excellent fit for the Gallery and Theatre.”
