Roxeen Roberts and Gary Dalrymple perform in Crofton Saturday.

The Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society is bringing the outstanding acoustic music of Nova Scotia duo Roxeen & Dalrymple to the Osborne Bay Pub on Joan Avenue in Crofton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24.

The show provides a great opportunity to enjoy the amazing mandolin playing of Gary Dalrymple, who will be remembered for his performance as a member of the Spinney Brothers band when it played during the Chemainus Bluegrass Festival in July of 2016.

Roxeen Roberts and Dalrymple were originally teamed together 25 years ago as band mates with the legendary Spinney Brothers. Now the musical paths of the pair have merged once more, creating the wonderful musical chemistry of the Roxeen & Dalrymple duo.

The show is a classic act featuring guitar and mandolin. It is a tour de force of vocals, rhythm and traditional melodies.

Both partners in the act are highly respected, veteran musicians with impressive resumes. They have won numerous Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Music Awards and are East Coast Music Awards nominees as well as Maritime Gospel Music Awards nominees.

They have toured coast-to-coast in Canada and the United States and now, after extensive careers of travel, performance and recording, both could not be more excited about where they now find themselves musically.

Roberts and Dalrymple cherish the classic sounds of traditional bluegrass, country and gospel music. They honour the music of the past, yet embrace the present through their originality. Their show is delivered with a deep-rooted sincerity that only a lifetime of authentic, traditional music can bring.

Tickets are $18 each and can be purchased on-line by visiting the Chemainus Bluegrass Festival website at www.chemainusbluegrass.com. Tickets are also available at Rainforest Arts on Willow Street in Chemainus or at the Osborne Bay Pub in Crofton.
