Visitors to the Skye Gallery at the St. Joseph’s Artist Studios in Chemainus during the summer solstice June 21-23 were treated to a great display of art by Skye Skagfeld.

The artist is known for her theme shows and exhibits coinciding with the seasonal equinox and solstice dates. Body of Water was the theme for this show and patrons submersed themselves in Skagfeld’s contemporary artwork with paintings that offered a profound exploration of water’s beauty, energy and significance in various contexts.

“There were a total of 42 guests over the three days,” she noted.

Skagfeld sold nine of her paintings, including three from the new collection and the rest from previous works that started stockpiling considerably with limited chances to meet and greet the public throughout COVID.

Skagfeld said the next show is set for the fall equinox around Sept. 23. It will include additional artists to offer a well-rounded show catering to all tastes.
